The Weekend Cop-out, Wherein Dueg goes Upstate

Heya everyone!  Quick post today to let all my regular readers know that I’m gonna be out of town this weekend and won’t be making any posts until maybe Sunday night, but probably not till Monday.  I apologize to everyone for the lack of Friday Strats posts lately, which I was supposed to start up again today and for anyone who will be missing the Saturday RP this week.  However, when you’re fiancé’s parents offer you their vacation house in Cooperstown, NY, where the baseball hall of fame is located, for the fourth of July, well, you go.  Sorry again, but I’ll be back in a few days and until then, you’ll just have to be satisfied with knowing that I’m having an awesome time!

Happy 4th!

The Sunday Cop-out, Wherein Dueg’s Saturday Evening is Awesome

So last night Mrs Dueg was working on a little home project, sewing up some pillows for our couch and watching Anne of Green Gables, which she had checked out from the library.  Though all of this is wildly entertaining for me, I figured that she didn’t need my monkey ass rattling around the house and decided to have some Dueg time.  So I wondered into the village in order to see Land of the Lost.  I love me some Will Ferrel and I was a fan of the original series, campy though it most definitely was.  I would say that this movie is quite hilarious as I was laughing the whole time, but the plot itself is fairly weak, so don’t be expecting Shakespeare or anything.  Still, if you like stupid comedies, and Dueg does, I definitely recommend it.

So after it ended, I wondered further into the village over to our local book store.  Now, anyone who reads WoW.com may have noticed a short post Friday advertising Christie Golden’s visit to a bookstore in Huntington, NY, which is where I live.  The venue, Book Revue, is well known locally for all the big gets that they get, including such people as Anne Rice, Bill Clinton and Buzz Aldrin.  So since the movie ended at 6:40 or so and the event started at 7, I decided to attend.  So I walked in, purchased my copy and sat down, waiting for the event to begin, but also having fun being a lurker and listening to all the various WoW stories floating around me.

There was the young couple, getting married and thinking about having a WoW themed wedding with a string quartet to play the game music and everything.  There was also the avid gamer couple who had met on Ultima online and the wife had created a horde banner which had already been signed by Chris Metzen and would now hopefully have Ms. Golden’s name on it as well.  Then there was the arms warrior talking about his hatred of OP paladin in arenas while extolling his undead’s psychosis of being “Lord of Cats” and who would whisper to his cat.  I also got a kick out of the woman who had created to the banner passing her roguish wisdom down to the seven year old who had come with his dad and sister with the sister obviously just not into it.

The event itself was pretty cool with Ms. Golden reading the prologue and chapter 5 and then taking questions.  I myself asked her a couple of questions about how she handles the lore process when dealing with the world of Azeroth and which authors she likes to read.  She recommended The Lovely Bones, apparently about a 14 year old girl who is raped and murdered and watching how her family is dealing with it from heaven.  Though the content sounds heavy, she assured us that it’s actually somewhat of a comedy and a pretty good read and I’ll say that my interest is definitely peaked.

So finally she did the book signing  and I, being the super nerd that I am, had her sign it to my character.  When she saw that she was all, “ZOMG, Dueg, as in Holy Dueg?  You’re like the bestest blog on the web and I totally think you’re awesome, will you bear my children?!”  And was all, “Oh, Christie Golden, would that I could, but my life is here and my true love is Mrs. Dueg.  Were it not so, you and I could run away together and write blogs and novels on some white sanded beach in the bahamas for the rest of our lives.”  I then woke up and handed her my book so she could actually sign it.

Mmm, your jealousy is so delicious

Mmm, your jealousy is so delicious

So that was my Saturday evening, one of the best I’ve had in a while.  And now I am off to have a gloomy Sunday filled with garden work, laundry and cleaning.  Man, Mrs Dueg is such a slave driver.  I totally should’ve run away with Christie Golden.

The Sunday Cop-out, Wherein Dueg is a Filthy Liar

Pictured: My nemesis

Pictured: My nemesis / best friend

What?  Huh?  *peers around, blurry eyed*  Oh, that’s right, Sunday RP, like I promised yesterday before I went to the wedding.  The wedding with the open bar… that glorious, beautiful open bar where Jack Daniels waterfalls flow into rivers of Coca-cola, whispering to Dueg.  Telling him that it’s ok, one more drink will help him dance better.  See that disapproving look from Mrs Dueg?  It won’t look so disapproving through blurred vision.  Oh yes, it was quite a night… at least I think it was quite a night.

Point being that I am in no condition to be writing RP.  I’m hardly in any condition to be writing RP.  Plus I have to go to a birthday party for Mr.s Dueg’s sister and swing by my brother’s house to drop off my sister-in-law’s birthday present.  Busy day for Dueg.  Anyways, I’m going to try my absolute best to get an RP post this week in order to make up for the missing one this weekend.  Again, I apologize and trust me when I say that I’ve learned my lesson and will not be drinking the devil’s water again… says the filthy liar.

The Saturday Cop-out, Wherein Dueg has a Wedding to Attend

FormalDueg

I'd rather be playing WoW

Heya everyone, sorry about this but there won’t be an RP post today because I have to attend a wedding this afternoon.  I had hoped to be able to write it up this morning, but between having to make breakfast, picking up the last part of the gift for the happy couple and still having to bathe my filthy self and get ready, my time is somewhat limited.  But worry not, faithful readers, all both of you, for I shall return tomorrow with the RP post, and it shall be glorious fantastic a post.

Anyways, I must run now as Mrs Dueg is yelling at me to get my butt in the car.  So until tomorrow, I hope everyone has a fantastic Saturday (I know it’s gorgeous on Long Island right now) and I’ll see everyone here tomorrow for a little RP action.  TTFN, Ta-Ta For Now.

Over the River and Through the Woods…

Heya everyone, just wanted to swing by real quick and let you all know that I won’t be making my usual weekend posts today and tomorrow.  I have to go to Pennsylvania with Mrs Dueg this morning for a wedding shower that a friend of hers is having.  I had hoped to have this morning’s post written up at least and skip over my usual Sunday post, but I just wasn’t able to take the time this week to write it up and there’s only a couple of paragraphs on it now so it’ll just have to wait.  Sorry about the short notice, but don’t worry because I’m come bearing 90’s alternative rock!

Enjoy, and I’ll be back on Monday!

OMG, Star Trek Rocks

Pictured: Something that rocks

Pictured: Something that rocks

Heya everyone!  Sorry that I didn’t make my promised RP post today, but I have been out of the house since about 10 this morning, and am actually posting this from my brother’s house right now.  You see, we went to Mrs Dueg’s family’s house this morning for Mother’s Day breakfast, at which my point my brother called me to see if we wanted to go see the new Star Trek movie.  Being the huge Trek fan that I am, I immediately accepted.

My brother actually lives close by Mrs. Dueg’s family’s house, so we just went straight over there, had a couple of beers, hung out and went to see an afternoon matinee.  I was blown away.  If you’re a fan of the original series, hell, of Star Trek in any incarnation, you owe it to yourself to go see this movie.  It is very smartly written and it does the one thing that I want most from a reboot, which is that it just feels like the original.  We immediately came back to my bro’s house and spent a couple hours talking about how awesome the movie was.

Now we’ve got a pizza on the way and some hardcore Sorry board game action seems to be brewing, so it seems like the blog will have to take a back seat for today.  I know, right after my 100th post and everything.  How embarrassing.  But, as they say, shit happens.  Don’t worry, I will make it up to you soon somehow, possibly with a double post one day.  Till then, live long and prosper, gentle jerkwads.
